Heck no, most of us don’t even know what the dream entails. And if we do, we know very little… but we do know…”I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that evident, that all men are created equal.” Then we jump to “let freedom ring”…. some of us know he said something about some little black kids running around with white kids holding hands but seldom do we mention the brotherhood he spoke about amoung our own people as well. Sure we as Americans have elected a black president but in my opinion it says little for the countries African-American culture and the “promissory note” we’ve single handedly defaulted on within ourselves. So sure superfically or on the surface, we are living the dream. But all that has really happened is instead of “quick sand of racial injustice” being aimed at sons of slave owners, it should be aimed at ourselves. Dr. King should have added self inflicted racial genocide and we would be living the dream in current day.

I agree with you, Elisa. If my favorite social activist (Dr. King & W.E.B. Dubois) were alive today, they would be fighting to end the Slave Mentality. Unity and World Peace would still be on the agenda, but I think that they would definitely have a concern with the lack of confidence that we seem to have in our community.
