Starting work at 4 am this morning preparing for the memorial was bittersweet for me. One of the many drawbacks of my profession...

I wanted to be home in front of the TV with the rest of those who didn't get tickets to the service but I couldn't. As I stood by glued to my post, I watched as droves of fans/mourners made their way to the Staple Center. Some dressed in gear reminiscent of Michael Jackson others in the traditional attire fit for a funeral service.

I saw the excitement on their faces as they walked swiftly in anticipation of this historic event wanting nothing more than to be in their shoes for just a couple of hours.

I somehow found my way to a local cafe which had the service televised in their establishment. As I grabbed a bite to eat, I was finally able to see the tail end of the celebration of Michael's life. Just in time to catch Little Paris' heart-wrenching words of love for her father....Wow!

This evening, I thank God for the progress of today's technology. I was able to see the service in it's entirety albeit several hours after it ended.

Looking to my daughter, I expressed sadness at how we repeatedly fail to verbalize our love and appreciation for those who are important to our lives while they are alive and can hear it.

I know every person on this planet is here for a specific purpose, whether we may know what that purpose is, is frankly irrelevant. We are here for a season, just long enough to fulfill God's purpose in our lives.

Michael Joseph Jackson served his purpose....He touch so many lives in an indescribable way. In life and in death.

May he rest in peace...
